With over 20 years of experience in scientific diving, Jill Heinerth is considered one of the most accomplished explorers and underwater cave divers in the world. Her work has helped researchers unlock the history of climate change and broadened our understanding of both Arctic and Antarctic underwater ecosystems. To recognize her lifetime achievement, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society awarded Jill with the inaugural Sir Christopher Ondaatje Medal for Exploration in 2013. She was also recently honoured with the Polar Medal by the Governor General of Canada.
